About the Artist

"Jean Powers" was born in a rural community of approximately 500 citizens and is proud of her Wyoming heritage. The community encouraged its’ youth toward a strong education and a diligent work ethic. These values have been passed down from families of homesteaders in the not too distant past. The artist’s parents were children of the “Great Depression”, and installed the belief that anything can be achieved with hard work, knowledge, and sowing positive seeds in the world. Her love of learning directed her to a career in education. The artist continues her education today taking classes and learning about oil painting styles from the old masters to Andy Warhol. Art, as a visualization of imagination, presents the challenge of transferring the mind’s eye to a canvas. The artist believes that painting is primarily a learned craft. Talent, technique,and passion contribute greatly to the outcome. Practice and patience nurture and refine the artist’s work...
